How Apex's trailing drawdown works

Intraday trailing — not end-of-day

Apex measures the highest point your account reaches during the session, unrealized gains on open positions included. The instant your equity sets a new intraday high, the trailing floor rises to match — you can't dodge an intraday peak by flattening back to the prior level before the close.

The floor locks when you hit your profit target

Once peak equity climbs to starting balance plus profit target, the trailing floor stops moving. On a 50k account, a peak of $53,000 locks the floor permanently at $47,500 — everything gained past that point no longer tightens it further.

No daily loss limit

Apex evaluations carry no daily stop-loss. A bad morning session doesn't end your day — you can come back and trade the afternoon. The trailing drawdown floor is the only hard boundary in play.

These figures use Apex Trader Funding's published 2026 account rules. Rule changes do happen — confirm current numbers with Apex's official documentation before trading.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does Apex's trailing drawdown work?
Apex tracks an intraday trailing drawdown — the threshold follows your highest equity peak during the session, including unrealized P&L on open positions, not just your balance at the close. Every time your account sets a new intraday high, the floor rises to match. On a 50k account the threshold is $2,500, so a peak of $52,000 moves the floor to $49,500.
When does the Apex trailing floor stop moving?
Once your peak equity reaches your starting balance plus the profit target, the floor locks permanently. On a 50k account with a $3,000 target, a peak of $53,000 locks the floor at $47,500 for good — further gains beyond that point no longer tighten it.
Does Apex have a daily loss limit?
No. Apex evaluations don't impose a daily stop-loss — the trailing drawdown threshold is the only hard rule. That gives you room to trade through a rough morning without being shut down for the day, but it also means there's no intraday circuit breaker if a single trade runs against you.
What is the Apex safety net?
The point where your trailing floor has locked at or above your starting balance — from there, you can't lose your original account value even if later trades go against you. Reaching the profit target is the fastest way to lock it in.
